FAQs
General FAQs
Registration for the winter session and spring league will open in November and close in February. We must have adequate time to order the uniforms and build the rosters before games start in April.
We do not have tryouts. Everyone who registers will be placed on a team. We do our best to build our rosters based on the player’s skill level, experience, and age. Our teams range from first-year players to teams who have been playing together for many years.
Your child’s “player age” is the age calculated by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA). The calculator is used to create their player age for the upcoming season based on their birthdate. Teams are formed based on your child’s player age at the time of registration. Players are allowed to “play up” with an older team but they are not allowed to “play down” on a younger team regardless of skill level. https://www.usssa.com/BASEBALL/AGECALCULATOR
We do take requests, however we receive several hundred requests per season so not all requests can/will be honored. We do our best to accommodate requests.
You are welcome to reuse your socks, pants, belts, and/or hat/visor. You will be required to order a new jersey for each season because designs and numbers will change each season.
Yes, we require background checks for all coaches and assistant coaches at the coaches' expense. We also require Safe Sport certification.
Program FAQs
The “Home League” is for T-Ball and Machine Pitch, ages 3-7 years. All games in this league are played at HOME, which is the New Melle Sports & Rec fields. These teams will only play each other, not teams from other towns. “League” or “Travel League” is for baseball and softball, ages 7-14. Those games will be played through the New Horizon League and players will “travel” to surrounding towns for games. These teams will play games in Wentzville, Lake St. Louis, Flint Hill, Dardenne Prairie, and New Melle (home).
The New Horizon League is the local league that we are included in. They coordinate the games between all teams in the league (Wentzville, Lake St. Louis, Dardenne Prairie, Flint Hill, Wright City, and New Melle.) More information can be found here: https://www.quickscores.com/nhybl
Silver is a higher level of REC competition, while Bronze is basic skillset recreational baseball.
